Founder’s story
3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 1:3 (BSB)
In the years that I have been a Christian, I must have come across this verse many times, but all this time, I just glossed over it, thinking it’s just part of the blessing section of an epistle. Thank God, in one of my readings a few years ago, this verse jumped out at me. All these years, I have seen too many people praying and asking for blessings, but here it says we have already been blessed with EVERY spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms!
It is not wrong to pray for blessings for our earthly life, but many times, when we only focus on our earthly life, and we see that our prayers have not been answered, we may think that our lives are miserable and that God does not love us. If we set our minds on things above, as Paul reminds us in Colossians 3:2, and we realise that we have already been blessed with every blessing in heaven, then our view of ourselves and God and our perspectives on live will all change for the better. From thinking that we are wretched and possibly not loved by God, we are now so loved by God that we enjoy every single blessing there is in heaven.
It is my wish that we will all begin to set our minds on things above and start to store up treasures for ourselves in heaven.
Your brother in Christ,
Peter
1Therefore, since you have been raised with Christ, strive for the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Colossians 3:1-4 (BSB)
19Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21 (BSB)
